Aluminium alloys are categorized by a four-digit numbering system, with each series having distinct compositions and properties:

2XXX Series: Includes copper, offering high strength but lower corrosion resistance.
4XXX Series: Contains silicon, providing excellent wear resistance and thermal properties.
6XXX Series: Combines magnesium and silicon for a balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and weldability.

Each alloy series exhibits unique mechanical properties such as density, ductility, workability, corrosion resistance, tensile strength, and weldability. However, as mechanical properties improve, extrusion complexity increases, and surface finish quality may decrease.

This alloy stands out for its cost-effectiveness, excellent surface finish, corrosion resistance, and ability to be heat-treated for enhanced strength. It is commonly used in fabricated parts such as storm windows, storm doors, storefronts, and commercial buildings. While primarily utilized for non-structural applications, it is occasionally applied in structural projects as well.

Known for its structural
strength and hardness

6061 aluminium is available in grades like 6061-O, 6061-T4, and 6061-T6. T6 indicates solution heat-treated and artificially aged for high strength. Known for corrosion resistance, good weldability, and compatibility with coatings, it suits diverse applications.

Application: Aircraft Fittings, Camera Lens Mounts, Couplings, Marines Fittings and Hardware, Electrical Fittings and Connectors, Decorative or Misc. Hardware, Hinge Pins, Magneto Parts, Brake Pistons, Hydraulic Pistons, Appliance Fittings, Valves and Valve Parts, Bike Frames.

Medium strength with excellent corrosion resistance

6005/6005A shares similar properties with alloys 6106 and 6082 and is sometimes used interchangeably. However, it offers superior extrusion characteristics and a better mill surface finish. Despite these advantages, it is less suitable for creating intricate or thin-walled shapes.

Application: Tubing for Furniture, Ladders, Railway and Bus Profile Structures, Solar Panel Mounting, Pylons, Platforms and Pipelines, Products where greater strength is needed than given by 6060 and 6063.
